9-Day Tanzania Adventure Safari
SAFARI SNAPSHOT
This thrilling 9-day adventure safari combines classic wildlife encounters with immersive outdoor experiences. Hike the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, cycle to hot springs, ride horseback among wildlife, and connect with indigenous cultures—all while exploring Tanzania’s world-renowned national parks and untouched crater lakes.

Your Safari Day Plan
Day 1: Mount Kilimanjaro Hike
Your adventure begins with a scenic trek on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. You’ll hike through lush rainforest trails, pass waterfalls, and enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of nature.
This short expedition offers a glimpse into the journey of Kilimanjaro climbers—without the altitude challenge. After your descent, you’ll head to nearby accommodation to relax for the night.
Day 2: Cycling to Maji Moto Hot Springs
Begin your morning with a cycling journey from the Kilimanjaro region toward Arusha. Ride through rural landscapes to reach Maji Moto, a natural oasis of warm, clear springs tucked beneath ancient fig trees.
Relax in the water, enjoy a local lunch, and unwind in the shade before continuing your ride (or hopping into the support vehicle) to Arusha for the evening.
Note: A support vehicle is always available for those who wish to ride only part of the route.
Day 3: Horseback Safari & Walking in Arusha National Park
Start the day with a horseback safari across savannah terrain. Riding among zebras, wildebeest, and antelope is a unique way to connect with the land and wildlife.
After lunch, continue to Arusha National Park for a guided walking safari. This lush, green park offers sightings of giraffes, monkeys, and vibrant birdlife as you explore on foot with your naturalist guide.
Day 4: Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park
Journey to Lake Manyara, a compact yet diverse park known for its acacia forests, hippo pools, and tree-climbing lions.
You’ll enjoy a scenic game drive in search of elephants, giraffes, flamingos, and other wildlife. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise. Optional activities include:
Treetop canopy walk
Seasonal canoe safari
Night game drive
Ask your safari expert to personalize the experience.
Day 5: Drive to Serengeti National Park
Set out early and head toward the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy views of rainforests, volcanic hills, and Maasai herds along the way.
Optional cultural and educational stops include:
Oldupai Gorge Museum – home to ancient hominin fossils
Maasai boma visit – cultural dances, village tour, and craft shopping
Upon entering the Serengeti, your wildlife journey begins—spot lions, elephants, wildebeest, and more on your game drive into the heart of the savannah.
Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands
After breakfast, embark on a final game drive through the Serengeti’s endless plains. As you make your way toward the Ngorongoro region, keep watch for elusive wildlife like cheetahs, leopards, and large elephant herds.
Enjoy a scenic drive through rugged grasslands and volcanic landscapes, and settle in near the Ngorongoro Crater rim.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration
Descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo, and countless other species, all contained within the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.
You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool before heading back to your accommodation in the highlands.
Day 8: Empakaai Crater Hike
Today you’ll visit Empakaai Crater, a quieter, lesser-known gem in the Ngorongoro highlands. After a hike to the rim, enjoy panoramic views of Ol Doinyo Lengai, Lake Natron, and even distant Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days.
Trek down to the crater lake where you may spot flamingos, bushbucks, buffaloes, and a variety of birdlife. Enjoy a peaceful picnic before returning to camp.
Day 9: Cultural Tour at Lake Eyasi & Return to Arusha
Rise early for a rare cultural encounter with the Hadzabe bushmen, one of Tanzania’s last hunter-gatherer tribes. Join them on a traditional hunt and learn their survival techniques passed down through generations.
Later, visit the Datoga tribe, skilled metalworkers and pastoralists, for a glimpse into rural Tanzanian life.
In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive along Lake Eyasi, home to flamingos and other birdlife, before heading back to Arusha or the airport for your onward journey.
