Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. When is the best time to go on safari in Tanzania?
Tanzania is a year-round safari destination. However, the dry season from June to October is best for wildlife viewing, especially for witnessing the Great Migration river crossings. Calving season (January–March) is also fantastic for predator action and lush scenery.
2. What should I pack for my safari?
We recommend packing:
Lightweight neutral-colored clothing (avoid bright colors and dark blues)
Comfortable walking shoes
Sunhat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
Warm layers for early morning and evening game drives
Binoculars and camera
Personal medications and basic first aid
A full packing list is available upon booking.
3. Is it safe to go on safari?
Yes, safaris in Tanzania are generally very safe when guided by experienced professionals. Serengeti Sphere Safaris works with highly trained guides and uses well-maintained vehicles to ensure your safety. Follow your guide’s instructions and respect wildlife distances at all times.
4. Do I need a visa to enter Tanzania?
Most travelers need a visa. You can apply online via the official Tanzanian immigration portal or get a visa on arrival at major airports. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.
5. What kind of vehicles are used on safari?
We use custom 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs for excellent wildlife viewing. All our vehicles are fully equipped with charging ports, a fridge for cold drinks, and spacious seating.
6. Are safaris physically demanding?
Most safaris involve long hours in a vehicle and occasional short walks. You don’t need to be especially fit for a classic safari. However, add-on activities like walking safaris or mountain hikes may require moderate fitness levels.
7. Can I charge my devices while on safari?
Yes. Our safari vehicles are equipped with charging ports. Most lodges and camps also offer charging stations in rooms or common areas.
8. What kind of accommodations can I expect?
You can choose between:
Budget Camping – tents in public campsites with shared facilities
Midrange Lodges/Tented Camps – comfortable en-suite options
Luxury Camps – stylish tents or lodges with premium amenities
We offer options for every budget and preference.
9. Will I have internet or phone signal on safari?
Some areas, especially remote national parks, have limited or no signal. Many lodges offer Wi-Fi in common areas. We encourage you to embrace the digital detox and fully immerse in the experience!
10. Is tipping expected?
Tipping is customary in Tanzania and highly appreciated. Guidelines are provided upon booking, but typically:
Safari driver-guide: $10–$20 per day per guest
Camp/lodge staff: $5–$10 per day, placed in a communal tip box
11. Can I bring children on safari?
